Hi Team,

We are working on SAS Enterprise Guide with some workflows and the EG is installed on Remote Desktop. Now, we need to schedule some workflows to run on weekly basis. But EG is throwing a message stating that workflow needs to be saved locally. But we will be having our workflows stored on Unix server.

Can anyone help me understand with this issue ?

Thanks in advance!

Hi! To schedule the execution of SAS Enterprise Guide processes on a Unix server, you can use a job scheduler (cron) on the Unix server. However, if SAS Enterprise Guide requires you to save the project locally before execution, you need to consider this requirement when configuring your process.

I think this will help you out:
Save the project locally: Open the project in SAS Enterprise Guide.
Save the project on your local computer instead of the server. You can use this local file for scheduling.
Upload the project to the server:
After saving the project locally, upload it to your Unix server where it will be available for execution.
Configure cron: Use cron to schedule the execution of your project on your Unix server. Your cron command should include the path to the SAS Enterprise Guide executable and the path to your project.
An example crontab entry might look something like this:

0 1 * * * 1 /path/to/SASEnterpriseGuide -batch -process "/path/to/your_project.egp"

This cron entry means that the job will run every Monday at 1:00 AM. Make sure that the paths to SAS Enterprise Guide and your project are correct.

EG projects can only run on MS Windows, where EG itself is installed, so it would be best to schedule your project on the remote desktop. Why do you want to store your workflows on your Unix SAS server when they can't be run on that server? You could get your SAS administrator to create a server folder share that is accessible from the remote desktop - that would definitely work. Alternatively just create a copy of the EGP onto the remote desktop's local drive.
