Hi ,
We are planning to migrate SAS Federation server running in windows in current location to a different location to be on windows itself.
This set up has Data Flux server / suite. Any thoughts on this migration would really be helpful. No change in the server topology
Thanks,
Vijay.
Hi Vijay,
I'll be happy to assist you! Could you explain some detail on the migration and goals:
Is this a migration from one Windows server to a new Windows server and you're interested in maintaining the metadata (connections/permissions/views/etc)?
Are there differences in the server topology (and networking) between the OLD and NEW server?
What versions of Federation Server are you migrating FROM and TO?
Clark
Thanks for the response Clark. please find below the answers
Is this a migration from one Windows server to a new Windows server and you're interested in maintaining the metadata (connections/permissions/views/etc)? ----- YES . This actually is a data center migration
Are there differences in the server topology (and networking) between the OLD and NEW server? ... No differences. Same topology
What versions of Federation Server are you migrating FROM and TO? --- No change in version. it is from 4.2 to 4.2
Thank you for that information vijay. You can find the SAS Federation Server 4.2 Migration Guide on our support.sas.com site (link included). Though it does not call out that specific scenario, due to the integration with SAS Metadata Server, you would leverage the SAS Migration Utility scenario to facilitate the movement of all metadata items for the transition to the new server.
