Tell us about the business problem you were trying to solve?
There are about 28 Engine Shops at Delta TechOps. Shop leaders wants to get an email notification when expedite shop order are coming to their shop and which repair step is going to be performed so that they could get resources available beforehand.

How did you use SAS to solve that business problem? What products did you use and how did you use them?
I wrote a macro program that loops though each shop to find out if there is any expedite shop orders that lists the shop on the next step. If any shop order(s) is found, an email will be sent to the shop leader. Current SAS version is 9.4M7. Operating System is LIN X64.

What were the results or outcomes?
This job is scheduled to run hourly 24/7 and the leaders are kept being updated. This makes shop leaders well prepared for expedite shop order at each step of the repair process. These expedite shop orders could be completed more efficiently.

Why is this approach innovative?
Our usual SAS programs are set up to run and reports are generated and sent to a fixed set of distribution list. This SAS job only send email notification to shop leaders when there is expedite shop orders coming to their shop.
