Why does SAS Real-Time Decision Manager slow down when I use sort arbitration?

SAS Real-Time Decision Manager enables you to automatically choose the best option(s) among multiple potential treatments to deliver to a customer. One method that you can use for this arbitration among potential treatments is sort arbitration. However, you might experience a steep growth in your decision campaign response time with each increase in the number of treatments for arbitration when you use this method.

This drop in performance is caused by inefficiencies in the underlying handling of custom detail values. You can limit the effect of the problem somewhat by reducing the number of custom detail values that you use. However, limiting custom details is not usually a workable solution.
