Ever had to split a report because not all users were allowed to see all content? Or looked for a way to allow click-through to detailed data based on the user or group? That is now possible with the new “Limit visibility to specified users” functionality, available from SAS Viya version 2025.08 onwards.

You can choose whether a report page is available to all users or to one or more individual users. When visibility is restricted, users who are not on the selected members list cannot see the page when they view the report. Limiting the visibility of a page is useful when there are multiple report pages and not all users have the same data access for the data that is used in the report.

How does it work?

A new menu option has been added to the page: “Limit visibility to specified users”. This feature allows you to specify which users or groups can access the page by entering their names in the Choose Members window. Only the selected users or group members will be able to view the page. Users not included will not see the page at all. Additionally, if this page is used as part of an action triggered from a visualization in the same report, the action will not work. If the action links to another report, the page will be empty with the note “No content to display”

See the video below for this new feature “Limit the Visibility of a Page” in action.
