If you haven’t seen the recent article series from DavidEstreich, this is your reminder to go take a read. In his series, David dives into CAS Gateway within SAS Model Manager and how it drastically speeds up Python performance. SAS Model Manager adopted CAS Gateway back in the 2025.01 release of SAS Viya.

In the third part of his series, David offers some suggestions into how you can get CAS Gateway to run Python models even faster. One suggestion was to change the parameter from single=True to single=False. This parameter controls if CAS Gateway should run on a single node (single=True) or on every worker node available in the cluster (single=False). David documents that by default, SAS Model Manager uses single=True. In the SAS Viya release 2026.06, SAS Model Manager has implemented the feedback provided by David to change our default behavior to single=False, allowing SAS Model Manager to run the code on every available node in the cluster. The best part? Python models are scoring faster, and the user doesn’t have to change a thing!
