SAS Viya Architecture Courses updated to LTS 2025.09
The SAS® Viya® Architecture curriculum has just been updated, reflecting SAS Viya platform’s LTS 2025.09 cadence and our commitment to delivering impactful learning for technical professionals. Here’s a comprehensive look at what’s new, why these changes matter, and how you can benefit from the refreshed course offerings.
What’s New in the Curriculum?
- Expanded Architectural Content
The updated courses now include deeper architectural insights into the SAS Programming Runtime Engine. This covers critical topics such as in-process CAS action execution and the associated storage requirements, empowering you to design and operate more efficient, scalable solutions.
- Enhanced Resource Management Guidance
We’ve added new sections on resource management for the SAS Programming Runtime Engine, providing practical considerations and best practices to optimize performance and reliability.
- Introduction of the Compute Tasks API
You can learn about the new Compute Tasks API, which simplifies migrations from SAS 9 environments, and also opens up fresh possibilities for integration within SAS Viya deployments.
- Updated Software Offerings
Stay current with the latest and updated software components, ensuring your knowledge aligns with the most recent SAS Viya releases.
- System Requirements and Third-Party Tools
The courses now reflect updated system requirements and third-party tool integrations.
- Kubernetes Storage Fundamentals
A new module covers the essentials of Kubernetes storage, including storage classes, volumes, and volume claims. That’s crucial knowledge for anyone architecting or administering SAS Viya in containerized environments.
- TLS Encryption with Customer-Provided CAs
SAS Viya now supports customer-provided Certificate Authorities for TLS encryption, enhancing security and compliance options for enterprise deployments. (there is a dedicated encryption course that you can also access in the “Architecture and Security” subscription)
- Redesigned Content for Better Learning
Some material has been restructured for easier consumption, whether you’re learning independently or in a live event setting.

New Course Structure: Three Targeted Classes
SAS Viya Architecture used to be covered by a single course. In spring 2025, we split it into three distinct classes to provide more targeted, focused, and accessible learning experiences:
- SAS® Viya® Architecture Fundamentals:
Designed for students seeking a high-level understanding of SAS Viya architecture, this course is ideal for anyone wanting foundational knowledge of the platform’s core components.
- SAS® Viya® Architecture for Practitioners:
This course is intended for professionals seeking comprehensive knowledge of SAS Viya architecture, such as technical architects responsible for SAS Viya deployments, platform administrators and DevOps engineers supporting cloud-native environments, consultants and technical leads designing Viya-based solutions.
- SAS® Viya® Architecture for Specialized Use Cases:
Tailored for cloud architects, infrastructure engineers, platform administrators, DevOps professionals, and developers integrating external tools and languages with SAS Viya. This class covers specific use cases and presents in-depth details about selected platform components and architectural practices.
Thanks to this split, you can now get more targeted and focused content, for easier self-study and on-demand learning. It is now easier to schedule your learning experience through multiple study sessions and accommodate everyone’s busy agendas. Teacher-led live and in-person architecture classes used to be tightly squeezed into a single week, while they can now be scheduled across multiple sessions of 2 to 4 half-days each.

- Earn Architecture Badges:
After completing each course, you can claim an official Architecture Badge through Credly, and showcase your expertise to peers and employers.

Course Delivery: Self-Service, Instructor-Led, Mentoring Services
We recognize that learning preferences and schedules vary. That’s why we offer self-service video modules, instructor-led classes, and mentoring services.
The time duration highlighted under each course title is the sum of all the videos included, reflecting the minimum time required for self-paced study.
The duration presented on the right of the “Live Class Schedule” page, on the other side, shows the length of instructor-led classes, including times for Q&A sessions, and is usually rounded to a multiple of 3.5 hours (which corresponds to a half-day session).
Finally, one of the most effective ways to learn SAS Viya architecture is to go through the classes at your own pace, then schedule focused mentoring sessions with our subject matter experts to receive expert guidance on the topics that matter most for you. Mentoring sessions are usually 2 hours long and can be tailored specifically for your team.
