SAS 9 Administration Refresher Series
After teaching several SAS 9 Administration workshops and courses, I kept receiving questions focused on a few common topics. I’ve decided that if one person is asking, another might also want some reading material on the topic too, so many of those questions expanded into the series below. New SAS Administrators need to be brought onboard to be knowledgeable and responsible for installing and configuring software, monitoring access, and troubleshooting issues on these SAS 9 systems.
So, whether you are a new SAS Administrator or experienced one: pull up a chair, and let’s refresh your knowledge of some selected SAS 9 Administration tasks.
The two main SAS platforms today are the SAS Intelligence Platform (SAS 9.4) and SAS Viya. SAS 9.4 delivers a highly available and resilient platform for deploying SAS in traditional on-site environments along with additional support for private and public cloud deployments. SAS Viya is an open, cloud-enabled, in-memory engine on the SAS Platform. It provides elastic, scalable, and fault-tolerant processes to address your complex analytical challenges. For the past few years, SAS Viya has been gaining prevalence, as time is money: customers get insights faster, streamline workflows and enable collaboration between users while improving both speed and overall productivity. SAS 9 is still here, being used by many customers for their business-critical analytics processes. SAS 9.4 is a powerful analytics platform that continues to deliver processing capabilities through high-performance, in-database and in-memory analytics. SAS continues to ship and support SAS 9 maintenance releases, each one covered by standard support for five years. (More coverage information at SAS 9.4 & Earlier Releases | SAS Support.)
SAS continues to support SAS 9 with the 9.4 M9 maintenance release that was released last year, and we’re already hard at work on the next maintenance release.
