Overview

For those about to embark on a new academic year and the fall semester, let me just say:

That goes for professors and students alike.

But, if you’d like a little more support than just a “You’ve got this!!” pronouncement – and are a fan of teaching and learning analytics using SAS Viya for Learners (VFL) – then this 4-part series has got you covered.

Here’s what’s coming up:

Part 1: SAS Viya for Learners upgraded to SAS Viya 2025.03LTS

  • We’ll break down what this upgrade means, what’s new, and why it matters

Part 2: Bye, Bye SAS Drive

  • If you’ve grown comfortable with SAS Drive, you’ll want to read this. We’ll explore the post–SAS Drive world and look at faster, more streamlined alternatives.

Part 3: Resources to help you fall in love with SAS Viya for Learners

  • Discover a curated list of ready-to-use teaching and learning assets from SAS Academic Programs – available on the SAS Educator Portal and SAS Skill Builder for Students. You’ll also get practical details, so you can skip the trial-and-error and start learning right away.  Happy learning!

Part 4: Calling all student hackers: please join us in the Student Track of the 2025 SAS Hackathon

  • Want to refine your analytical skills using the SAS Viya environment… while competing in the Cortex Analytics Simulation game?  Against students from all over the globe?  While getting a chance to win an iPad?  Well, now that I’ve got your attention, please check out Part 4 of my series!

Those are the things that I’m thinking about in the SAS Viya Academic universe as the fall semester approaches.  What’s on yours? Share your thoughts in the comments!
