Symptoms

Whenever SAS User tries to login to SAS 9.4 Linux/UNIX Environments and get a Workspace Server following error occurs:

ERROR: User does not have appropriate authorization level for library SASUSER.

Diagnosis

Lack of Home Directory for the user, when user tries to get a Workspace Server.

Solution

Starting with SAS 9.4 M6 (ship event 18w47+) Linux/UNIX Environments, you can leverage this option export SASMAKEHOMEDIR=1 in $CONFIG/Lev1/level_env_usermods.sh to get the Home Directory created automatically. This option works for IWA, non-IWA, Standard Workspace Server or Load Balanced Workspace Server scenarios. Also there is no need to install any additional OS Packages such as oddjobd or make any PAM changes.
