Many customers working with SAS on a Microsoft Windows desktop or server also have data stored in a Microsoft SQL Server database, and want to work with this data within SAS. SAS for Windows has two products, SAS/ACCESS® Interface to ODBC and SAS/ACCESS® Interface to OLEDB, that can connect to Microsoft SQL Server. With either product, you need to complete some configuration outside of SAS before SAS can connect to the database and access the tables. This article describes how to configure both the SQL Server OLEDB data provider and/or the SQL Server ODBC driver on a Windows machine, as well as the different ways to connect to a database in SAS.
