I am happy to inform you that for the 2011 SAS Global Forum in Las Vegas, the OR session will be an officially and formally recognized session like Statistics, Data Mining etc. So now, when SAS employees , consultants , customers or users submit a paper with OR content for consideration to SGF, you will be able to select the OR session as your preferred section. In previous conferences, you had to submit OR papers to some other session and hope that Ed Hughes, Maura or Manoj could somehow track your paper down and move them to the "special SAS Presents OR" session after executing mysterious bureaucratic maneuvers.

This official OR session will have 4 50-minute equivalent slots and two of the slots can be used by SAS and two are reserved for customers. (A talk with SAS co-authors can be a customer talk if the customer is the main speaker). Note that there will be no special SAS Presents sessions, at least for this SGF. SAS talks will be part of regular sessions. Remember that we also have the flexibility of breaking the session up so that there are some 20 minutes slots.

Please think of this is an early, informal call for internal and customer papers for this new OR session. Looking forward to a great response !
