I must have accidently hit some kind of keyboard combination that changed my cursor to a wider looking black one.  Now, I'm overwriting in a way I don't want.  Where to change this back?

Try the INSERT key on keyboard. It may work as flip-flop: insert/update thus changing the cursor from a vertical line to rectangle and vice-versa.

Does this afffect your other Windows (or other OS) applications?  If so then its the Windows settings - right click on Desktop, choose Personalization, Change Mouse Pointers.  Should be under there.  If its just in SAS, what software are you using, EG, SAS Studio, SAS 9.x etc?

I know it from MF environment.
