Q&A
Are the algorithms in Enterprise Miner the same as the ones available in Viya?
They are similar, but they are not the same. For example, if you think about random forest, gradient boosting, or even neural network, they have a little bit of a difference. They’re trying to use a way to optimize the coefficients and the weights in the different models. Or when they do the splits, they’re trying to create the algorithms optimized by the Viya infrastructure. So, we know that Viya is a multi-thread engine in memory, and it runs fast. That allows the optimization model to try out different solution spaces and come up with a better tuned hyperparameter set. So, I think that even though they are the same concept, behind the scenes, the algorithms are different in terms of the environment we are running on, trying to optimize the hyperparameters based on the multi-thread in memory engine.
