Q&A
What kind of DR capabilities does HPE GreenLake storage offer here?
HP storage and especially the Green Lake for block storage MP offers a lot of capabilities in terms of disaster recovery. We have something called as remote copy, which offers replication from 1 storage array to another. So, you could do this replication both in a synchronous as well as in asynchronous fashion. Then we have something called as pair persistence. We can have two storage arrays in an active setup presented to the same SAS Viya layer, or stack and then both of them act as the active IO path. If one of them goes down, it is totally seamless failover for the application and the other storage array can keep taking the iOS and responding to the iOS. That offers a decent level of disaster recovery. And then I would say it depends on the RPO and RTO requirements of a particular customer and we can tune these features and capabilities accordingly. Additionally, if the customer wants to look at a larger picture through the HP GreenLake solution, we also have HP GreenLake for backup and recovery, and we have disaster recovery. There are larger solutions that are not at the surge level, but at the larger level.
Is this solution offered in a traditional purchase model as well along with pay-as-you-go?
Yes, we can offer that in a traditional way up on payment for the entire environment and the offering which GreenLake which is a more consumption-based model with viable payment. Each offering has different advantages when it comes to cash flow, the influence on assets management for example. The services capabilities that we were talking about are available in both options. So, you can have the traditional way with the management services, the same way you can have that with the community.
Does HPE offer capabilities to manage the Red Hat components in this solution? And what about SAS Viya, can that be managed by HPE as well?
The answer is yes. We offer three options for management. First, you manage it for yourself. Second, we manage the infrastructure only that goes up to the Red Hat Openshift. And then we offer the management of the platform and that will include the Red Hat Openshift layers, as well for SAS by application. At the moment, it will be out of scope, but who knows what the future will be. There are SAS partners that can take the management of that. We are working with distributors and partners to have that communication if a customer doesn't want it managed all the way up. It just would not be through HPE.
Do we have any published material/ link which can be shared with customers?
We absolutely do on that resource page. All those links are publicly available.
