Watch the webinar

You will learn how to:

  • Prepare and analyze health data for the purposes of building relevant and repeatable patient cohorts.
  • Use patient cohorts for downstream analyses, including patient safety, clinical trial design, patient outcomes, program evaluation and population health studies.
  • Generate actionable health insights for the purposes of clinical decision support, grant writing or policy development.
  • Bridge the divide between data management and exploration for critical interdisciplinary work in a single platform for analytic interoperability, fostering collaboration within and between organizations.

The questions from the Q&A segment held at the end of the webinar are listed below and the slides from the webinar are attached.

Q&A

Is SAS Health a different licensed tool in SAS Visual Analytics?

The Cohort Builder is a separate license under SAS Health.

When starting up with SAS Health Cohort Builder, how do you get data into this module? Is there a preferred format?

Yes, there is a distinct common data model that we will help you map your data to. We are actively working on connectors to your data lake to do the data mapping through the metadata.

Are these visuals in different tabs pre-built?

There are not. I built them from scratch, but if you go to explore and visualize, you can open a new tab and have access to templates called “the most beautiful reports”. You can leverage reports that were already built by our users. You can also build out your own templates and reuse them. See the recording at 50:38 for a demonstration.

How easy is it to collaborate within study teams on SAS Health?

It’s very easy. You can tag teammates, or you can restrict files, reports, etc. based on a user profile. There is a lot of flexibility for collaboration.

What efficiencies can be gained by using the SAS Health Cohort Builder?

Based on conversations with customers it’s taking 10-12 weeks to build out their cohort and preliminary results report with visualizations. With this tool, it takes 1 to 3 hour max so there is great time savings (weeks to hours) to realize when using this tool.

How easy is it to curate concept definitions?

It’s very easy. There are some best practices. When you save the concept definition, you’re able to put in a description so you know who owns it and who modified it last. If there are any definitions for the study, you can also add them. Every concept gets its own object ID so that allows for governance.
