Hello,

I have multiple question about tomcat version. I understood there is a tomcat for SASWebServer which acts a LoadBalancer and tomcat for SASWebApplicationServer (i don't remember why).

my questions are:

  • in the folder $SASHome/SASWebApplicationServer/9.4, there are multiple tomcat-x.x.xx.x.RELEASE folders. I would like to know how I can verify which release is currently in use in order to delete the old version. I guess the higher release is in use but I would like to be sure.
  • What is the latest release of tomcat for SASWebApplicationServer on a RedHat Linux 7.9

Thanks

The easiest way is probably to look at the running processes, i.e. ps -ef | grep tomcat.
The tomcat release is updated through updates to the SAS Web Application Server component so would not be tied to your RedHat version but your SAS release (e.g. 9.4 M7) and if you have installed any hot fixes for the SAS Web Application Server.

@gwootton , thx for your reply.

Our current SAS version is 9.4M7.

How can I check which hotfixes are installed ?

You can see which hot fixes are installed using the ViewRegistry tool.

Using the ViewRegistry Report and other methods to determine the software releases and hot fixes that are installed
https://sas.service-now.com/csm?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0036131

The SAS Hot Fix Analysis tool can take the output from this to determine if any updates are available.

@gwootton (again) many thanks for your reply 😉👌

I didn't run SASHFADD tool (not yet) but I know the kind of report and files generated by the tool.
If I want to deploy only new version of tomcat only for SAS WebApplication Server, is there an "easy" way to do that or do I need to read all hotfixes and find the right one?

As you can imagine, I have to update Tomcat Version due to some security issues.

Many thanks.

I usually apply all available hot fixes, but you would be specifically looking for available hot fixes for the component "SAS Web Application Server" in the SASHFADD report. Here's the links directly to those hot fixes for version 9.46 and 9.48 of SAS Web Application Server, I'm not sure which is deployed in your M7 installation as I believe this incremented mid-release.
