Hello,

how we would connect our SAS system to an Microsoft Azure Cloud? Is SAS/ACCESS to MySQL the right connection or is there something else?

Hi @PKumar

In order to answer your question we need more information. I am going to assume you are talking about Azure SQL Database,

Azure SQL Database is now supported by SAS 9.4M4 SAS/ACCESS Interface to Microsoft SQL Server. There are some differences between Azure SQL Database and Microsoft SQL Server. These differences are covered in the following SAS Note:  http://support.sas.com/kb/59/619.html

Holler if you need more info.

Although SAS has not performed targeted validation connecting to Microsoft Azure SQL, your best bet is to use SAS/ACCESS Interface to Microsoft SQL Server.  However, you will need to call Tech Support in order to get the 7.1.6 version of the SQL Server ODBC driver that works in conjunction with this ACCESS engine.  The version SAS redistributes with 9.4M3 is the 7.1.5 version, but the supplier for the driver (Progress DataDirect) documents support for Azure at its 7.1.6 version.  SAS Tech Support can supply you with the 7.1.6 version.
