SAS AMO 7.13 has new capability to run sas programs i.e. under SAS menu you can see a new option "sas programs" , thre if you click, it will open new editor window within excel and you can run a code there.

Question is : in SMC , checking capabilities, it has got capabilities of amo 7.1 and since this is new function in amo 7.13, there is no capability present to control this feature.

How do we control this.
Can we update capabilities?

Would we need to ask for latest depot and update out SMC client ?

Hi @GyaniBaba

Did you have a look at Default Roles and Capabilities for the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office from SAS® Intelligence Platform: Administration Desktop Application Administration Guide ?

It seems that the capability you're loking for is Create or Modify SAS Programs.

This is the relevant extract from the documentation.

To get SAS Add-in for Microsoft Office 7.13, you need Ship event 16w48 at a minimum.

Hope that helps.

Hi @GyaniBaba

I ran some test and can confirm that the Create or Modify SAS Program capability is the one you're looking for.

When the user connect to the Metadata Server, it would check if the user has the capability or not.

The log would have something similar to:

2018-01-09 07:11:07,094 [16] DEBUG SAS.EC.Directory.Metadata.OMSProvider [(null)] - Action: Component Add-In 7.1 for Microsoft Office, Name Create or Modify SAS Program, Authorized = N
