Till 9.3 - the only way to install hotfixes was to download relevant from sas.com or use SASHFADD tool and deploy them using SAS DM.
SAS 9.4 - especially for SAS EG and Addin - when these programs are launched, it gives pop-up message to install hotfix.
And
SASHFADD is also still available.
SASHFADD should still be able to recognise all hotfixes, so if we use it, it should recognize the ones which appears in pop-up message box as well.
But this doesn't seems to be happening. Message pop-up might be helpful to easily install hotfixes but SASHFADD should also be working with all kind of hotfixes.
Is my understanding wrong? can someone clarify ?
Hello @GyaniBaba,
you are not missing anything but perhaps this needs an explanation.
Up to 9.3, you could install (or should install) EG and Office Addon only through the SAS Depot.
Starting 9.4, SAS offers a new (and more standard) way to install some products, the standalone installs.
If you install "standalone", SAS won't deploy all "Deployment Manager" stuff, which makes impossible for SASHFADD tool to identify the status of the products, and that is why you will need to check the new updates from the tool itself, or some other ways.
If you would like to keep using SASHFADD, even for small EG or Office addon installations, you will need to run quiet installations with the full depot. Only then SASHFADD will be able to identify and install the hotfixes as required

Everything where you will install the software with setup.exe (SAS Deployment Wizard - aka SDW), on quiet or any other mode, will register properly the products and hotfixes and should allow you to recognize and install new hotfixes with the tool
