Brilliant! Even though it does not clear log, and start a fresh counting, it definitely helps me get rid of deleting those line counts. Thank you!

SAS has so far logged 14678 lines of code, note, warnings etc. I have to copy some code snippets from log. But the problem is when I copy, the line counts also get copied, and I have to manually delete all of those. It's very tedious and boring when the code is really long. That's why I was thinking if there's a way to clear log and start fresh counting. Any suggestion?

Oh no! Yes, Event is CHAR. So I didn't know that if a variable like Event is CHAR, then I cannot write if Event=.!!! So in case of Event, I should write like: if Event=' ', right?

As a part of running a macro, I was just checking if there was any missing value, it would be deleted. Since the dataset doesn't have any missing value, it should return all the rows. I know if I code like: proc sort data=zzz nodupkey; by aa cc; run; it will remove duplicate entries which have identical values in aa & cc. How can I see, instead of removing, the duplicates which got removed? Much thanks. Regards.

I have a dataset as the one below: Date Day Time yyy zzz 3/17/2009 Fri 9:00:00 12 34 5/18/2013 Fri 10:00:00 23 34 7/21/2007 Fri 11:45:00 45 56 …..…………………………….. Now, I would like to filter data with Time. The Time is in NUM time20. format. I would like to do this: if day is FRI and time between 9:00:00 and 11:00:00 then ssss=aa; I coded as: if day="Fri" and 9:00:00<Time<11:00:00 then ssss=aa; which gives an error and asks for arithmetic operator. I have rows of news which I need to give codes to based on individuals in the news. I am trying to do the following thing: data zzz; set yyy; if there is "% Bernanke%" in Event, then there is a new column SF1=1; else SF1=0; if there is "% Rosengren%" in Event, then there is a new column SF2=1; else SF2=0; if there is "% Paulson%" in Event, then there is a new column SF3=1; else SF3=0; … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … run; Also, I would like to set the length of the new variables (columns) SF1, SF2, SF3... to $5. How can I set the length for all the new columns at the beginning except writing: length SF1 $5.; for each new variable? Regards.

This seems to be a spell checker. I have no issues with spelling. I need SAS to recognize which words are verbs. Googling PROC SPELL doesn't give much insight.

Hello experts! Is there any way to let SAS recognize what a verb is, and extract that verb for me? In my case I have rows of economic news, and I am supposed to extract news specific to speeches, talks, briefings, conferences etc. And I don't want to miss any observation. Being able to identify the verbs in the strings in this case seems to be an easy problem solver.
