I have calculated a standardized weight for running weighted analysis using PROC FREQ. The issue is, I obtain standard errors that are half the size of the standard errors I obtain when using all the survey parameters in PROC SURVEYFREQ. I calculate the same proportions when I use the standardized weight in PROC FREQ and the original weight in PROC SURVEYFREQ, but I have a larger standard error in PROC SURVEYFREQ than in PROC FREQ. I am trying to figure out if there is a standard way to inflate the standard error so that it does not underestimate the variance estimates in PROC FREQ. Thank you for any guidance you can provide!

I am attempting to plot a fourth variable on a plot using the pointlabel statement. It works essentially, but I cannot figure out why the lines are interconnecting between the different values of my fourth variable and why there are multiple labels around a single data point. Below is the code I used to generate the attached graph. Thank you Patrick and Chang! The answers you provided were extremely helpful. Chang - I am not very familiar with the seed, ceil and ranuni functions in SAS, could you explain a little of what they are performing? the resources I found cleared it up some, but I thought perhaps you may be able to help explain it and help me understand better. I am trying to figure out if there is a way to automate the process of assigning random IDs to a set of 50 records. I want to randomly assign a number between 1 and 100 to the 50 records - is there a SAS function that do this for me? I have found some random ID creation code, but what I have found creates decimals and alphanumeric IDs and I cannot specify a specific range. Thank you for any help you can provide.

I have a dataset which contains multiple character responses. Below are four example of the same response as far as interpretation, but due to capitalization and punctuation, each response would have to be re-coded. There are multiple questions that have the same issue and I am trying to find ways to save time and also have code to make all the data uniform. I wanted to clean-up the data prior to doing any re-coding by making all the responses uppercase and deleting any punctuation. Is there a SAS function that can do this? Example of differences in format of responses, but interpretation is the same I agree. I Agree I don't know I Don't Know. I appreciate any help you can give. Thank you.

I have 3 variables: mean, lowerCLmean and upperCLmean. I want to combine them and add in parentheses around the lowerCLmean and upperCLmean as well as a dash between the lowerCLmean and upperCLmean. Below is an example of what my data is currently like and the data under new variable is how I would like it to look at the end. Thank you for any help you can give. I have a dataset which contains diagnosis information. Specific diagnoses were assigned into different groups. I wanted to create an excel document that listed all the diagnoses within each of the different groups, but I wanted each group to have its own unique sheet. I know that in proc report you can specify that there be a page break based on a variable - I essentially want to do the same thing in excel except for instead of being a page break there is a new sheet. I appreciate any help anyone can give. Thanks.

In SAS, there is the ability to speficiy that if a variable is within a range of numbers, that you can recode them i.e. if variable in (1 2 3 4 5) then new_variable = 1; I am wondering if the same can be done with a character variable. I am analyzing data with ICD9 codes and not all the codes are numeric. I am specifically wanting to have a series of ICD9 codes from V277 to V277.2. Is there a way in SAS to write that I want to identify records that contain an ICD9 code between V277 and V277.2 thank you for any help you can provide.

I am trying to create an output dataset of the following variable comparisons using proc freq. I am able to do this with one subset of my population which is small, but when I run the same coding on the larger dataset, the error that the table is too large to process appears in the log. Is there a way to fix this in a setting or do I need to try and create the variable comparisons in a different program? I have a dataset which contains multiple blood pressure measurements per patient. The issue is, that some patients may only have 3 blood pressure measurements while other will have 10 blood pressure measurements. I want to calculate the standard deviation of all a patients blood pressure measurements within a given month - does one patient having only 3 versus another patient have 10 blood pressure measurements in a month affect how I will interpret the STD of blood pressure per month? If I have not explained this clearly, please let me know. Thank you.

I am actually trying to show the count of physicians, the type does not matter in this instance. This is a map that is not going to be published, but used a visual tool in presentations given. I am wondering if anyone can look over my code to see what I am missing or adding that is causing the map to not be developed. I do not have any errors in my log, but no map is produced. Thank you Robert. I was unable to open the two last links you provided. The window that pops up says they cannot be found. The first two links are helpful that you provide.
