Thanks for your response Reeza and for suggesting me using Proc surveylogistic!. I did switch to proc surveylogistic; good thing- my results haven't changed at all. **I am curious to know why surveylogistic is more meaningful than logistic where we are able to add the weight statement and get the SAME results as suyveylogistic? What and how does proc surveylogistic do differentlythat logisitc while analysing the weights? ** I read on the sasupport that PROC SURVEYLOGISTIC incorporates complex survey sample designs, including designs with stratification, clustering, and unequal weighting. Would you please explain what unequal weighting refers to? ** So does it finally mean that whenever we are analysing any unweighted database, proc surveylogisitc is a better choice over proc logistic? Hi there Thanks for our response! It seems that I cannot increase the sample size or change the restrive criteria. What I wonder is if it is still alright to use these results, that I posted in the original post. Morbid obesity is one of the independent variables in the model, my interest variable is diabetese and hypertension. I hope there is no harm using these results. Appreciate your response.

Hi there, I have run a multivariate logistic regression model and one of the odds ratio values I have got it is <0.001 (<0.001- >999.999) I am not sure what this means and why I have got such a value. Does this mean there is something wrong with my model. Is this a sample size issue? The original sample size is 914 and after weighting it comes to be 4500 The model is as below. Greatly appreciate any help or advice. Hi, In the following text, I am trying to understand the red colored text? Any help/suggestions what it really means and how to actaully do that? Multivariable logistic regression was used to adjust for confounding. Factors in Table I as well as AIDS, liver disease, peptic ulcer disease, obesity, alcohol or drug abuse, andpsychiatric disorders were included in an initial logistic regression model. Age, sex, race, and renal function were forced into the model, and backward stepwise logistic regression was used to generate the final model. Terms whose removal did not alter the effect estimate for dialysis status by >10% were removed in order of significance. Thanks, Ashwini

Hi, I have never run the stepwise /backward regression before. I am wondering on what basis I can decide the values for slentry (sig level to allow the variable in the model) and slstay (sig level to keep the variable in the model). Any guidance/help will be appreciated. Thanks much, Ashwini

Hi. I am trying to overlap 2 histograms with the same scale. The best I could do so far is to get them adjacently placed but I am not sure how to overlap/superimpose them. Thanks very much for this illustration! that makes perfect sense. I am wondering after I perform the Independent t test or the man-whittney test using this 'difference" (after-before) variable, "what exactly' in the results tells me that the "difference" is positive (after values >than before values; which is expected) and not negative. I know the results will tell us if this "difference/change in platelet inhibition after intervention " in the 2 groups (diabetic and nondiabetic) is significantly different or not. But I am curious to know how I would know if the overall difference/change is positive or negative for the whole data. Appreicate your response! Ashwini

Hello, I am trying to use the independent sample t test to see if the change in a variable is significantly different in 2 groups. The variables are platelet inhibition before and after a intervention of a drug.Ideally the platelet inhibition should increase after the intervention. Now I want to see if the difference in the platelet inhibition (after minus before drug intervention) is significantly different in diabetic and non-diabetic patients. But when i create this new variable of "difference" (after minus before), there are some values that are negative... it seems the platelet inhibition didnot increase in some patients after using the drug. My question is if it is alright to still use this variable (with a few negative values) while pefomring the independent sample t test or non parametric the Man-whittney test? Logically it sounds right to me..but i would like to get some experts opinion on this. Response appreciated! Thanks Ashwini

hi there, thanks for your response. you are right the problem is about 32 bit vs 64 bit. I am wondering if i can still trust the analyses result i am getting in the 64 bit PC, shown along with the warning. Do i have to do something like you have explained above? or for that matter use one of the solutions before I run the analyses in 64 bit PC? There are too many datasets and each of them is very huge and has too many formats..so i donot really wish to do it all over again. I just want to know if it will be absolutely fine to use those results even if they are generated with the error messages about formats. If i could just use the analyses results without having to take care of the solutions to get rid of the warning, that will save me a lot of time. Appreciate your help. Thanks Ashwini

Hi there, I have some SAS datasets for which, I had created the formats and done majority of analyses Windows XP. And now I have a new computer with windows 7 and while running some analyses on this new computer. I keep getting following warning messages in the log windows; however it is still giving me the output. ERROR: File LIBRARY.FORMATS.CATALOG was created for a different operating system I am wondering, if this is anything serious and if it is going to affect the results in anyway. Is switching between 2 operating systems, going to give me any serious trouble ahead with SAS analyseS? Any suggestions/recommendations? Thanks, Ashwini

no i didnt . what i got is in the file attached above' interaction1.pdf. I tried following to get the odds ration compared to the ref intercation term, but it gave me 2 ORs. They are the last 2 outputs in the attched file interaction1.pdf.
