It worked for the stock separately, which means the final data file only contains one stock only. But I want the final data file containing all stocks fetched from Yahoo. If I run %getdata(MCE) first, then it will generate a file called 'ALL', which contains MCE stock prices. then run%getdata(BSL), then BSL data will be appended below MCE in 'ALL' recursively, and so on. I dont know which part is not quite right. Thanks

Sorry, forgot to mention that. The datasets do not exists. They are the stock prices to be downloaded from Yahoo Finance. And A, B, C, D, E... are just stock codes. %getdata(dataname), is to perform the download first, and recursively combine the data downloaded together in one file. That's why I need to find a way to read the 100 stock codes automatically, rather than change them manually. Thank you

I wrote a macro that can recursively input the similar datasets into one data file. It will be no problem for me to change the data name one by one if there are only several datasets. However now, there are more than 100 datasets. How can I write a macro loop to read data names automatically? For example: %getdata(dataname) is the macro I wrote. What I want to do is to pesudecode: %do name = A, B, C, D, E, F, G, ...... %getdata(name) %end; Thanks for the help in advance.

Thanks for the suggestion. They do actually not end in numeric suffixes. I just put "question1", "question2", as an example for the simplicity. Sorry for the misleading. In the dataset, for instance, the names are " baseline_overallsafetyofChart", "baseline_indication", and so on. So the only common part is the the prefix "baseline" for the first dataset, and "six_month" for the second dataset. Thanks and regards

Dear All, I have two survey datasets collected several months apart with the exact same questions. Therefore the column names of two datasets are partially the same, except in the first one it looks like baseline_question1, baseline_question2..... and in the second it is six_month_question1, six_month_question2,........ There are nearly a hundred questions. I would like to transform them into: Question1, Question2, Question3..... Time Baseline ....... Six_month ........ Therefore I need to remove the prefix of column names from both datasets, and combine them later. Can anyone please suggest a way to do this? Thank you in advance.

Dear All, I want to write a code to check every possible combination of variables for their values. For example: A B C D E F G ........ Yes Yes No Yes No No Yes Yes ....................................... For 7 variables with 2 selections, there are 21 combinations. How can I write a code that if any two of A B C ..... G..... with "Yes", then the newvariable: new1 = "Yes", ie. A=Yes, D= Yes then new1 = "Yes". if A=No, D=Yes, then new1 = "No". ? Thanks and Regards Fred

LIBNAME library 'c:\MySASLib'; PROC IMPORT DATAFILE = 'c:\MySPSSDir\survey.sav' OUT = library.sassurvey DBMS = SAV REPLACE; FMTLIB = library.formats; RUN; I am experiencing SAS 9.3 at the moment. This is the example I used to import SPSS (.sav) file to SAS. However when I did this way, the error message appears that: " ERROR: Unable to open the table library.sassurvey. library.sassurvey cannot be opened. Do you want to select a different table to open ?" The error in the log is : "ERROR: Format Q9_ not found or couldn't be loaded for variable Q9_." This happened only when I specified the formats in "FMTLIB", which put SPSS formatted value in the personal library. However without "FMTLIB", the formats would be put in "work" directory, and then I can open the data in the personal library. It seems weird. I want to create formats in different library, because there are several SPSS files I have to import. If the formats file in the same "work" directory, when a new SPSS file imported, its format will overwrite the existing one. Does anyone know about this, and How can I fix this problem? As noticed in SAS, when imported SPSS file, it also create a "formats" sub-directory, which contains all the format of the variables, telling 1 = Yes, 0 = No. Then the question now will be that how to let character formats as the actual character values rather than numeric ? Thanks Fred

Dear All, My original SPSS data can be viewed in both numeric and character values, i.e. 1 = Yes; 0 = No; In SPSS, you can either view them in numeric or character format. When I imported the SPSS data to SAS, the data retains SPSS's character value appearance, but with numeric type. So I was wondering whether I can convert them to actual character type, and work on those character value. For example: Yes Yes No No appears in SAS data, but their true type is numeric, which are 1 1 0 0. How can I keep them as character value as (Yes No) when they are imported to SAS ? Thanks for the detailed explanation Cynthia. I would like to see one result per output rather than cumulative HTML. Is there anyway to disable this while still tick HTML in the Preference setting? Because if I use "ODS HTML" statement to output results, actual HTML files will be generated and stored in my local directory (not working directory), then I have to delete those unuseful ones manually everytime. Therefore I would like to know how I can see the results in SAS with HTML one result per output, and without creating actual file in my local directory. Thanks and Regards Fred

Thanks for the reply. 1. Installation was completed, and all the ticks were green in the installation process. 2. I tried to use manage SAS files types. However when I tick or untick sth. and click OK, an error message appears. 3. Now I want to completedly uninstall SAS from my computer. Could you please suggest me someway that I can uninstall it completedly as it never existed before? So far I uninstalled all the SAS softwares, and use some tools to clean the registry associated with SAS. However when I re-install the SAS, it still suggests the location whether the last one resided. However it should be C:/program file/SASHome, the location for a new installation in a computer. As I mentioned before, my classmate installed 9.3 in his new laptop, and everything's fine. Thanks and Regards Fred
