I have a program that calls multiple programs. After the execution of the first called program, I clear the work library (proc datasets with delete) so that the next program can still use the work library.

I am wondering if doing this will allow that space to be reused or does SAS allocate more space for the next job?

If it does not reuse the space is there a way to reclaim it for future use.

I am having some space issues some of the time.

Thanks for any clues.

Hi.

What OS are you using as if Windows etc, SAS out of the box does not allocate space for the work library, it will just consume what is there.

Clearing work will make more space available to reuse.

In saying this you Administrator may have set up limits/quota for each user at the OS Level.

Cheers

Barry
