Try DBMS=XLSX if SAS UE.
The 255 limit is from Excel ACE engine, not a SAS limitation so you may need to convert file to CSV to import it correctly.

If you're using SAS 9.2 then you're not using SAS University Edition. SAS 9.2 did not support the native XLSX format, so you'll probably need to convert your Excel file into a CSV in order for SAS to read the entire thing.
