Cannot locate SAS Studio in the Hands-On Lab

Views 215

I've enrolled for a training named "Accelerating SAS® Code on the SAS® Viya® Platform" and tried to get some Hands-On with SAS Studio IDE.
However I was not able to see that SAS Studio was installed on the VM.

Any help/pointers will be greatly appreciated.

Hi:

In that class you should be using SAS Viya. When you first enter the lab and you are on the main SAS Drive screen, click the Application Menu (3 horizontal lines) in the upper left corner of the screen (shown below for SAS Viya 3.5):

and from the drop-down menu you should see choices like these:

Explore and Visualize choice opens SAS Visual Analytics on SAS Viya, Build Models Choice opens SAS Model Studio on SAS Viya, etc. When you see Develop SAS Code on this menu, it should launch SAS Studio:

Note the banner at the top says: "SAS Studio - Develop SAS Code".

If you are taking a classroom class with an instructor, then please verify with your instructor that you are using the correct lab.

If you have signed up for our e-learning class of the same name, then if you still do not see the choice when you are working in the lab, we would need to know whether you were using one of the reservation-based Virtual Labs or whether you were using SAS Viya for Learners. Once you get into SAS Viya, the Viya menus are the same but the method of entering the lab is different. You can send mail to elearn@sas.com and let us know the email you used to sign up for the class so we can advise you on the correct method to enter the lab.

Thank you for the prompt response.

I signed up for the e-learning class named "Accelerating SAS® Code on the SAS® Viya® Platform" , unfortunately I wasn't able to see the choice while working in the lab.
I was using one of the reservation-based Virtual Labs.

I have sent the email as advised to  elearn@sas.com.

Hi:

Thanks for clarifying your type of usage. It turns out that this class in the Reservation-based Virtual Lab has students open SAS Studio a different way than the one I initially showed. In checking that course, you need to enter from the Google Toolbar after you open Google Chrome INSIDE the Virtual Lab. Here are the instructions from inside the course in the required section on Setting up the Practice Files:

If you make a reservation and open the Virtual Lab, do you find a SAS Studio bookmark on the Google Chrome browser that's inside the Lab session? Do you receive any error messages? When you click the SAS Studio bookmark, the next thing that you should see is a signin window, as explained in #2, that will look like THIS:

This is where you put the credentials outlined in #2, as shown above. Then, after you click to submit these credentials, you should see SAS Studio so you can navigate to the PGVY folder and create the class data, as outlined in #4.

When you send your mail to elearn@sas.com, please let them know (or send a screen shot) of your Google Chrome bookmarks bar from inside the Virtual Lab so they can see that the bookmark for SAS Studio is missing. Or, if you are getting an error when you supply the credentials, send a screen shot of that error message too.
