[Use Case Description]

Our use case is "Data Center Energy Consumption Optimization".
We will work on optimizing the power consumption of data centers, taking into account the cost of sensors and other factors.

Why did we choose this topic?
Because AI models, especially those based on deep learning, require a lot of electric power to perform complex operations on huge amounts of data.

As the demand for such AI models has been increasing rapidly, the power consumption in the data center may also increase even considering hardware performance improvement.

We know that there already exist in many methods to optimize power consumption in data centers, those are not available in all data centers so far.

Through this hackathon, we will try to achieve this use case by arranging how to get data and combining some of existing methods.

We look forward to playing around with SAS Hackers!
Thank you.

Comments

Data Centers are massive consumers of Energy.  Driving energy efficiency in the data center aligns with the sustainability commitments of the major players in cloud, and many smaller players also.  Might be interesting also to think about how data centers could time shift loads to avoid contributing to peak demand periods.

very important & timely! thanks for this great idea, AI/ML to keep other AI/ML in check! good luck!

interesting project, very appropriate considering the growing focus on sustainability.
