Large cities, such as Madrid, have significant problems regarding pollution and urban mobility. Although these cities usually have sustainable transportation alternatives available, some of them have an underperforming service, which discourages people from using them. In Madrid, there is a public transport service known as BiciMad, which provides electric bicycles exclusively. By using both technology and advanced analytics techniques, the BiciMAD service can be optimized to change citizens' urban transportation habits. Our analytical approach has two main phases. First, we created accurate forecasting models to predict the number of bicycles in demand for each day within different time slots. Second, we optimized the process to provide the right number of bicycles to be replaced and removed from each station for every time slot. Let's all do our best to take care of the environment and our society.
