In the Amazon rainforest, deforestation destroys over 800 km² of land each month. To address
this, SAS and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) developed a model to detect the earliest signs of deforestation in the rainforest by combining the power of crowdsourcing and artificial intelligence (AI). This effort will allow decision-makers to detect change better and drive policy responses quicker.
