Is it possible to get the means of var1 grouped by class1, means of var2 grouped by class2, and means of var3 grouped by class3 in a single PROC MEANS statement.

Something like:

proc means data=name;

class class1; var var1;

class class2; var var2;

class class3; var var3;

run;

I don't want to write multiple proc means statements due to the size of the data set.

Thanks.

Easiest would be to include all of the class and var variables and the select afterwards.

class class1 class2 class3;

var var1 var2 var3;

The _type_ variable could be helpful if writing to an output set to select the ones you want. It may also be helpful to select only the statistics you want.

If this is for printed output you might try another procedure.

proc tabulate data=name;

class class1 class2 class3/missing;

var var1 var2 var3;

table class1*var1 , n max min mean std;

table class2*var2 , n max min mean std;

table class3*var3 , n max min mean std;

run;

I was able to figure this out, just the way you mentioned using proc tabulate.

Thank you.
