Good afternoon folks!

I've been having an annoying problem on and off, and I thought someone here might have a solution.

About once a month or so, my Application Toolbar disappears. I can't seem to correlate it to any programs I happen to be running, or anything else.

Tools-> Customize brings up the window that has the checkbox for Application Toolbar. I click the box to turn the Application Toolbar back on, click OK, and the toobar does not appear.

Getting to the Customize Toobar menu from the Command Bar has the same result.

The only way I have found to get the Application Toolbar back is to entirely delete my Profile, which causes me to lose my window settings and previously used file list, which is quite annoying.

Once the Profile has been deleted, the Application Toolbar checkbox works correctly to make it appear and disappear.

If anyone knows of something I can reset to turn on the Application Toobar in the configuration file or my Autoexec file, I would be very grateful.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi Wendy

I had a 'reversed' issue (SAS V9.3): my profile catalog became corrupt, so I had to delete it so SAS could fire up a new one.

After I did that, the toolbar was gone and I couldn't get it back through the customize menu.

But what did help, was right-clicking just next to the drop down search text box, where the toolbar was first located (the search text box was as wide as the screen, as the toolbar was not there any more), and if you the right-click (just next to the dropdown arrow), you can select "Application Toolbar".

I hope that works in your case, too.

Best regards

Erik

I am having the same problem. Were you able to figure this out without deleting the profile?

Thank you

In my view, opting for the deletion of your profile to bring back the Application Toolbar isn't the best choice because it results in the loss of your window settings and previously accessed file list. Instead, consider trying out the following alternatives:
Unhide the Taskbar:
If the taskbar is hidden, you can reveal it by moving the cursor towards the bottom of the screen. Follow these steps to permanently unhide the taskbar on Windows:
- Press the Windows key + I to open the Settings app.
- Switch to the Personalization tab and click on the Taskbar option.
- Expand Taskbar behaviors and uncheck the box that reads 'Automatically hide the taskbar.'
- Restart your PC.
Give these options a try, and hopefully, it resolves the issue.
Dealing with software bugs can be tricky, but the ongoing progress in machine learning and artificial intelligence might offer solutions in the future. Some applications already utilize AI to detect anomalies and proactively fix problems. It's fascinating to observe how AI enhances the user experience: https://andersenlab.de/services/artificial-intelligence . In the meantime, I hope you find a solution without resorting to profile deletion.
