Replicating Chris Hemedinger's code:
http://blogs.sas.com/content/sasdummy/2013/07/31/gmail-from-sas-program/
from a Remote Desktop Connection to a server running SAS v9.4 on Window Server 2008 R2 Standard, I get the following message whether I specify gmail or my companies server:
There is no email program associated to perform the requested action.
Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the
Default Programs control panel.
Can anyone shed some light on this? To my knowledge NO email program is installed on the server, but I would have thought that using gmail could alleve that. I was able to access gmail through its browser to send myself an email.
Thank you,
Kevin
The paper from Mr. Tilanus shed some light: http://www2.sas.com/proceedings/forum2008/038-2008.pdf
I changed the system option (fictitious server):
options emailsys = smtp
emailhost = one.server.com
emailid = "genepistat@gmail.com"
;
and found success:
NOTE: The file EMAIL is:
E-Mail Access Device
Message sent
To: genepistat@gmail.com'
Cc:
Bcc:
Subject: "Test 2 of email from SAS"
Attachments:
NOTE: 4 records were written to the file EMAIL.
The minimum record length was 4.
The maximum record length was 39.
NOTE: DATA statement used (Total process time):
real time 0.24 seconds
cpu time 0.01 seconds
