Hi,

I have the following code

data want;

set have;

by account_id reporting_date ;

retain count;

if first.account_id or mia eq 0 then count=0;

else count+1;

run;

With this code if the first account id's is MIA greater than 0 it still reports it as 0 count where I need it report to be reporting count as 1.

got

account ID  reporting date MIA count

1                 JAN                 2        0

1                 FEB                 1        1

1                 MAR                0        0

2                 JAN                 0        0

2                 FEB                 4        1

2                 MAR                5        1

Need

account ID  reporting date MIA count

1                 JAN                 2        1

1                 FEB                 1        2

1                 MAR                0        0

2                 JAN                 0        0

2                 FEB                 4        1

2                 MAR                5        1

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I cant test this, post test data in the form of a datastep to get tested data.

data want;
  set have;
  by account_id reporting_date ;
  retain count;
  if first.account_id then count=1;
  else if mia eq 0 then count=0;
  else count+1;
run;
