Video storytelling is the art of using video to tell a compelling and engaging narrative. And we want your business case to shine!
As a follow-up to the webinar What You Need to Know About Your Video Submissions, here are some assets to review and use in your team's video submissions:
Video guidelines (framework and best practices). [PDF]
Assets to organize your story (The Challenge, The Innovation and The Impact).
Three mp4 files are in the attached .zip file. Download the file to extract and use the mp4 files.
On-demand webinar: "What You Need to Know About Your Video Submissions" (grab your popcorn and rewatch the show).
Don’t forget: Every story has a message or theme. In video storytelling, your business case should be clear, guiding the audience to a specific conclusion or call to action. Good storytelling also involves mixing visual elements, audio and text to communicate a message to a specific audience. Avoid music and focus more on the business case message and visuals.
Get your creative juices flowing! Check out examples of great video storytelling from past SAS Hackathons.
Reminder: Don't forget to take a look at the TEAM Checklist.

Preparing for your hack has never been so much fun! 😊 This year, we’re dropping it like it’s PROC with a customized board game called SAS Hackathon Ideation.
The game is designed to help you and your team brainstorm ideas, identify which problem to tackle and determine what data you will use – ultimately, it helps you strategically plan for success!
In the true spirit of gaming, Ideation is intended to engage teamwork and inspire creative problem-solving. You’ll see collaboration emerge as a key component. As you play, you’ll start imagining all the possibilities! That’s the immeasurable benefit of the SAS Hackathon – helping you see the tangible value in innovation.
Also, as part of the game, we encourage you to use our SAS Hackathon Lean Canvas document. This template is a visual and strategic planning tool that will help you organize your use case. Download the document and use it to take notes while you play.
So, when can you play Ideation?
The game will be available to view at the SAS Hackathon Booth at SAS Innovate in Las Vegas.
Look for its arrival to a SAS office near you - sign up on the Interest List to be notified first. Be on the lookout for dates and locations.

To join the 2024 SAS Hackathon, each team needs to create a Team Profile on the SAS Support Communities. Visit communities.sas.com and sign in. Don't have one yet? Creating a profile is quick and easy.
Once you are signed in, click on "SAS Hacker's Hub" under the "Hubs" dropdown menu. Click the orange "Join Group Hub" button. Then, click the arrow next to "Start a topic" and select "Create a library article." You could also start an article by visiting the "Team Profiles" under "Community areas" and clicking the orange "Create An Article" button. From here, select the "Hacker's Hub Team Profile" template and click "Start Article."
Please title your new article "Team Name - Use Case" and fill out your team's information in the chart in the body text area. Bonus points if you link your teammates' Communities profile in the 'Team members' section. As the hackathon progresses, you will need to edit this Team Profile... so adding your team members as contributors is a good idea, so they are able update the Team Profile as well. Remember to also choose a label for your track. And feel free to add a photo representing your team.
If you would like to include an optional introduction video for your team, click so your cursor is underneath the chart and click the "Insert video" button. Browse your computer and select a video file to upload. Name your video “Team Name - Intro Video” and click on the "Insert Video" button.
Once that is all done, click "Publish" and you have successfully created your Team Profile on the Hacker's Hub.
Here is a video tutorial that goes over these steps:

A Team, minimum 2 persons, up to 10.

What happens with my intellectual property (IP) after the SAS Hackathon?
The IP belongs to the team… See Terms & Conditions.
