SAS Studio have "Server Files and Folders" that allows to Drag & Drop files and folders. While it can be convenient, it can be source of accidental file or folder shifts.  There can be examples of folders (e.g., because they were close in favorites) silently moved into distant folder without user noticing it and then it can be very hard to find who moved file, where or when it was moved.

Please add option(s) (below listed by preference how to risk mitigate) to:

1) add confirmation dialog for drag and drop (it exists in WinSCP and aimed to minimize similar incidents)

2) turn off drag and drop functionality

Hi @syrovd ,

could you explain HOW to disable Drag&Drop in SAS Studio? What do you mean when you say "turn off drag and drop functionality"? Can I do it from the environment manager?

Hi @itanid

This configuration functionality is not available in SAS Studio. I'm providing user feedback (in format of idea) that it would be useful feature to add confirmation to drag and drop operation or be able to disable it.

Please let me know if any questions or you need additional information.

Thanks,

Denis

Would like to add that accidental/ unnoticed folder shifts may also present issues in the form of storage capacity or backup deltas if folders are not located in time or are critical to operations and require a restore.

In addition to the two suggestions made by @syrovd, Enterprise Guide by default does not move but rather copies which may also be a suitable option in some cases.
