If you searched Google and/or this site and didn't find an answer to your question, select a forum and ask a question (or start a topic.) Here are the steps:

Click the Start A Topic button in the forum's upper-right corner:

Compose and publish your topic:

  1. Write a descriptive subject line.
  2. Use simple language with context. Note product version.
  3. Add screen shots or other images by either: a) dragging/dropping; b) attaching a file; or c) clicking the camera icon in the editor. Text will behave better if nearby images are inline/centered.
  4. Include code you've tried by clicking the running-man icon in the editor. Avoid including data or code via attachments or screen shots. You'll get help faster if you include a DATA Step version of your data. @Reeza describes how in this post.
  5. Double-check your post for clarity and completeness. Preview how the post with look, if you like, by clicking PREVIEW to the right of the editor ribbon.
  6. Click Post to publish your topic.

Edit and re-publish your topic

After you publish your topic, you have a short window of time in which you can edit and repost the message. This allows you to make corrections, adjust formatting, or clarify your question. Click the menu indicator to the left of the topic title and choose Edit Message. Make your changes, then Post.

How to delete your topic

Most community members do not have privileges to delete their own posts. Once other members begin to reply, the act of deleting your topic will affect the replies shared by others. If you want to request that your topic be deleted or edited (for example, if you accidentally shared sensitive information), use the action menu on the left and select Report Inappropriate Content. This will alert a moderator who can help remove or edit the message.

Comments

For #3 would it be a possible to put a second number/arrow by the 12th icon in the editor as well as the attachment section? The camera that will embed the image into the post rather than as an attachment. This methods allows you to paste a screenshot directly which I find much easier to use, personally.

@Reeza is this version what you have in mind?

Hello,

I have the above data, where the last column is a counter, that counts if more than one procedure is done on the same patient on the same day.  How do i identify patients that have more than one procedure per day and separate from patients with only one procedure per day?

Thanks

@Bluejags Please post this as a question in the appropriate community.

@BeverlyBrown , I know you clearly mentioned that the "PREVIEW" is on the right side of the ribbon but maybe it would be a good idea to highlight it on the picture?

All the best

Bart

@yabwon Yes, indeed! Good time to highlight this, as we're about to revamp all the help/getting started info in here. If you see anything else that could be better, tag me. Meanwhile, adding this to this list.

Can I delete a question that I previously posted ? Thanks.

Hi @ugly_duck_ling, Community Managers can delete posts on request. We prefer not to, especially if they attracted comments and solutions that could help others in the future with the same question. But if a post contains private or proprietary info, I or another admin can delete it.

I accepted a response as a solution for my question by mistake. Is there a way to revoke it and accept another response as the solution? Thank you!

Hi @lizzy28 I can take care of that for you. Would you post a link to the topic here and indicate which reply is the solution?

Hi @lizzy28: Yes, it's easy to correct this: Select a different post as the solution after clicking "Not the Solution" in the option menu (see icon below) of the current solution.

Thank you all! @FreelanceReinh provided the right way to correct it.

Hi, I am trying post a query and this is what happening. I have no idea from where to select board.Screenshot 2022-12-05 140134.png

Hi @farwa,

I noticed your question (and a reply already!) in the New User board. Good on you for figuring it! And welcome to the SAS communities.

Best,

Shelley

I just posted my first question in a "start a topic" about 30 minutes ago.  How long is the review process before posts are broadcast to the community? Where may I go to see my post? And, how will I be notified if and when someone replies, by email?

Thank you!

Welcome @tblock !  I don't know how long it will take for your first post to appear. I think the moderation step is a short-term check used for new accounts, as part of spam prevention etc.  When I look at your profile, I can see you have two posts (including this comment), but I can't see your first post yet.

You can check your notification settings by clicking your name in the upper right corner, and then going to My Settings-> Subscriptions & Notifications -> Notifications.  My settings look like :

I get an email each time there is a new post in a discussion I have participated in.

ok thank you @Quentin ! I hope I am replying directly to your comment to me. Hopefully my post will be seen by the community at some point! thank you again!

@tblock I can see your question was posted and already has a few answers.  In case you're not getting notifications, the question is: https://communities.sas.com/t5/SAS-Programming/How-do-I-create-variable-to-indicate-a-binary-variabl...
