Hi All,
I have been thinking about how to do automated log scanning in a Stored Process setting, and Tricia Aanderud was kind enough to let me write a guest post on her (excellent) blog to put out some ideas for feedback:
http://www.bi-notes.com/2012/07/stored-process-ignore-log-your-own-peril/
The outline of the proposed process is:
1. Write a report to file (html/pdf/rtf/etc).
2. Scan the log.
3. If log is clean, stream the file back to the user, if dirty, stream an error report back to the user .
While it's written for stored processes, I think the approach is applicable to any web app that uses SAS in the background and streams results back to a browser. As there are lots of folks on here who have *much* more experience in developing web apps than I do, wanted to encourage anyone who is interested to take a look at the post, and post comments (ideally to the blog, so Tricia knows if there is interest, but also happy to start a longer discussion here, or off-line, or .... )
Thanks,
--Q.
