Data visualization might seem daunting to the uninitiated. In the interest of breaking down that barrier, I turned myself into a test subject: a writer with zero data viz experience learning SAS Visual Analytics and putting it to work on some personal data.
That data was around my favorite internet word game, Redactle, and the hope for the resulting story was three-fold: a) That I’d discover some insights to help my scores, b) That this would be a fun, engaging way to promote data literacy beyond those of classroom age and prove that anyone can dive into data visualization, and c) That we’d get to highlight how VA can be embedded in a web page.
Check out the full story here with all the interactive report pages (and be kind to my newbie skills!).
In the longer term, the goal is to get more viz-inexperienced SAS employees to participate and see what interesting ways they can find to explore their personal data in our “Day-to-Data” series.
