(righ click and open in new tab) And your other questions: Yes we use AUTOLOAD but there are only a few data sources and they have been there for a long time. There is only one server for SAS VA afaik. I also got a much better reply from SAS Support so I paste it below: The JAVA memory use should on the other hand be related to WEB server activities (I will check with some technical staff on this) By the way could you check the following folder: C:\SAS\Config\Lev1\Web\activemq\data - it should only contain 4 objects and the kahadb-folder content should be of current date and reasonable in size. When I look at the kahaddb folder there is a log file called db-729.log that is about 32 MB. This file is used by Java and I need to stop the services in order to make any changes. Is this an unusual size for the file? Should I try getting a back up and replacing it with an empty one?

Hi! Thank you for your response. Unfortunately the problem lingers. And I got more help from you people in the community that I received from SAS. They have simply directed me to learning Environment Manager in which I still do not see anything suspicious. All I know is that Java Platform SE binary is taking a lot of CPU even when nobody is using SAS. However, it is still hard to say what is causing it to work that hard. The only thing I see is my SAS VA taking a very long time to load. So any help is still appreciated.

I see that Java Platform SE Binary is in average consuming 30-40% of my CPU. It's an active process even when nobody is using SAS VA. Could this be a reason?

I have restarted all the services and the web app server. Nothing much has changed. I don't honestly dare approaching the settings mentioned in the Tuning pdf you provided but I am almost sure no one has been here for a while to change them.

Hey! The restart process of my webserver is still running and it has taken much longer than expected. It took about 15 minutes before. Here I give you the size of my logs, temp and work folders. logs: 13.3 GB temp: 31.2 MB work: 111 MB Do any of these look unusual? I think the logs folder has become quite bulky. But is there a systematic way of cleaning it or should I just empty the text files manually?

As of late, the performance of our Visual Analytics have significantly slowed down. This includes logging in, browsing and loading reports. I know there can be a lot of reasons for this. But I do not remember modifying any settings. Could this be an issue with the server computer? Anyhow, is there a check list to go through to detect the cause?

I think you understood correct. What I need is a way to run the script in that SAS file (the same refresh you mentioned). So I am looking for a script to refresh that table. Can you help me with that?

I am new to SAS and VA. I am trying to load the datasets I want in the Autoload folder so that the data is updated every 15 minutes. The autoload process is run and I see that every new sas file (.sas7bdat) that I put in the autoload folder shows up in VA. The problem is that the loaded data seems to be a snapshot of the results of the first time I created the table in SAS. So here is the query I wrote in my SAS file: proc sql; connect to odbc as mycon (datasrc=dsPedramSample user=pedram password=XXXXXXXX); CREATE TABLE pedramTestTable as select * from connection to mycon (select top 5 * from [SAS_Datamart].[dbo].[pedramTest]); disconnect from mycon; quit; After running the above query, I copy the resulted SAS file to the autoload folder and run the autoload scheduled task again. I go to VA and it looks ok. Then I go to the pedramTest table in the database and change some of the values and then run reload again. But the information is not changed. What am I doing wrong?

Once again for my next project assignment on SAS VA, I am lost in an ocean of documents. We have SAS VA on a Windows Server 2012 x64 server. Our license includes SAS/ACCESS. Our database is Sql Server. Here is what I want to do: Make sure if SAS/ACCESS is installed and is ready to use. Set up a connection to the database Using a simple query to load the data into SAS VA as a Data Source. Please let me know if there is a good walkthrough other than SAS/ACESS' 1000-page manual.

Thanks Madelyn, I really like it when experts give detailed instructions instead of general jibber-jabber. I found the log file you told me to. Here is the latest entry in that. I think it has something to do with SSL. I am trying to send an email of one of the reports to myself via SAS VA. When I click on the send button, I get the following error message (picture below): "E-mail could not be sent because: E-mail service error." So I started digging a bit. In the following document and found this similar question and followed what Madelyn_SAS has written. The answer seems to be in the following document: http://support.sas.com/documentation/cdl/en/bimtag/66823/PDF/default/bimtag.pdf I have gone through the instructions in the section SMTP Mail Server and have edited the server.xml file with my SMTP server information. I have also added the SSL option and have performed the 3 steps regarding SAS Management Console at the end of that session. But I keep getting the same error. My question is: Does anything have to be restarted? Or would it suffice just to edit the file? Is there any log in which I can see why this sending fails?

That is true. The problem was that port 80 was occupied by IIS. SO I disabled IIS and let Apache Tomcat take over it. So thanks for the answer. By the way, how do you know I received support from SAS?
