Thanks again for your help. 1) I initially thought that I might need to specify order in the YAXISTABLE Statement, but I bit on what I saw in the on-line documentation: CLASSORDER=DATA | REVERSEDATA | ASCENDING | DESCENDING specifies the order in which the class values are displayed. Restriction This option is ignored when the axis table is used with DOT, HBAR, VBAR, HLINE, and VLINE statements. If the GROUPORDER= option is specified in the chart, then that group order variable is used as the class order variable for all axis tables. -- and, still can't see why REVERSEDATA will work, but ASCENDING won't. 2) Also thought that the split needed to be handled in the YAXISTABLE Statement, but have been unable to find anything related to this in the Documentation. Look forward to any suggestions you may have!

thanks - lots of good ideas! I haven't been able to get sgpanel to work, but your solution provided what I needed (I can use "ods layout gridded columns=2" to get where I want to go)

any suggestions on how I can get the group variable on the axis? After the Control-A / F9, I saved it as a Word doc, and the TOC is there when I re-open it (don't have to do it again) Thanks, Dave

Got a solution from SAS Tech Support: You can view and update the table of contents created with BODYTITLE by selecting the entire document (Ctrl+A) and pressing F9. (it works!)

When I run an ODS RTF statement without Bodytitle, I get what I expect (the "Update Field" option in Word, for creating a Table of Contents); when I include Bodytitle, the "Update Field" option isn't available - am I missing something? Finally e-mailed SAS Tech Support, and they suggested "When you get a chance specify NOGTITLE on the ODS PDF statement and let me know if that produces the results you want." This got the 1st page is behave ok, but didn't get what I need on page 2 (the by-info for the 1st graph on page 2 was on the bottom of page 1) Then it finally came to me – I just needed to make the "ods graphics / Height =" larger, till the by-info title shifted to the 2nd page.

Thanks for the suggestion - I neglected to add that I'm using xaxistable in my acual graphs, so sgpanel doesn't work.

I'm trying to create a number of by-graphs, with a title on the top of the page, and the by-values inside the graphs (and a new page for each byvar1) - tried lots of combinations, but no luck - below is stripped-down code with what I'm trying to accomplish.
