This may sound like an irrelevant question, but, it's been a problem with my personal experience: What is their monitor setup? Specifically, have they had an extended desktop/dual monitors? And/or: What exactly do you mean by SAS freezing?

We (my company) does not have SAS/ACCESS(R) 9.3 Interface to PC Files. (Just this morning I was having a discussion with a colleague about how they can't do something because we do not have it, so hopefully we'll add it). It appears that the general consensus is that Microsoft is likely the culprit (either directly or indirectly) and that we should avoid using it when working with SAS. I don't disagree with the latter sentiment. Thanks.

In this case, it's not an option to "do the processing" in SAS. this is a shared workbook (hence why it was on sharepoint), used in part by non-SAS users. We are using Excel 2007, SAS 9.2. It is an .xlsx file. We are importing using an EG import task (proc import wouldn't be an option because the file is not stored on the SAS server). I delayed in responding while we did some more testing here. 3 users all have the problem as described above. I, on the other hand, import it as missing data-- the import task reads that column as a Character variable with a length of 1, and all the values are missing (and if i change it to numeric in the import it's also still missing). So now I'm wondering why it works differently for me and why it reads in as missing.

IFERROR(IF(A2>0,1,0),0) where A2 could have an error because it was a lookup to somewhere else on another sheet. Let's assume IFERROR is necessary in the spreadsheet.

A colleague of mine was using EG and importing a spreadsheet (with the SAS EG Import task) that contained data in hardcoded numbers and binary 1/0 columns that were produced by nested IFERROR(IF()) functions. The cells with IFERROR were (correctly) detected as having numeric data, but the data set created had 5 for every value in those columns. He found a workaround by removing IFERROR and only using IF(), but that could result in errors in the workbook. Other possibly important information: SAS EG 4.3, SAS 9.2, Excel file was stored on Microsoft Sharepoint. Any ideas on this? Can SAS not handle IFERROR or is there something else? Anyone ever had a formula column get pulled in as all 5's or any number?_

Can you be more specific about your question and/or problem? Are you saying that the code you're trying isn't working, or you need additional code? I think you may have a missing semi-colon but that's about all I can glean from your post: SELECT (REGION); WHEN ('EMEA') DO; IF WEEKDAY(DATEPART(ORD_ENTRY_DATE)) NOT IN (1,7) & ORD_ENTRY_DATE not in EMEA_holidays_2014 then do c = 'made' ; else c = 'miss'; END; In the 5th line there should be a semi-colon after 'do'.

I'm not a SAS GRAPH expert, but I do have EG so it generated this code for me when I plotted 4 different variables on the same vertical axis. I get that (in 4.3) when trying to open a task for which input data set(s) have not yet been created. Are you trying to open tasks before running the entire process flow up to that point? It doesn't sound like it, based on your description of creating new tasks, but that's my experience with that error and maybe there's something you're doing that is related (is it when you create the tasks, or when you run the tasks afterwards)? Does it matter if you run the entire process/project or if you run them one at a time?

Lag the units, calculate % change, take average (crude way but I know it would work with Base SAS and any version): 01/2013 2.200.225 units . 02/2013 2.250.000 units 2.200.225 0.2% 03/2013 2.376.999 units 2.250.000 5.6% .... .... 02/2014 3.000.100 units So the trend after the first 3 months would be 2.9%. Then put the average of pctchange (ie trend) into a macro variable and bring it back into the data set to do forecast: proc sql; select mean(PctChange) into :Trend from...; quit; Data Forecast; set ...; PredictedUnits = LagUnits * (1+&Trend); run;

Oops! I deleted this after I figured it out a few mins later, so I'm not sure this will even show up. I thought I had tried to remove trailing blanks with %TRIM and it didn't work, but I noticed that I had a typo when I did that. Using %Trim on &userLib and then trying the new variable in the libname statement worked.

Ahh this makes sense, in fact reminds me that I have done that before (which is why it nagged me). I have a macro loop that goes through and adds the counter to the end of a data set name and that entire string is preceded by 2 ampersands.

If it's a random sample then you certainly want to pause before throwing them out... furthermore your customer behavior (and the sample means of other characteristics) could differ in that population of fairly new customers compared to customers you've had longer. Can you make the time of being a customer part of an earlier fork in the decision tree? And then follow a different path? Or at least try it and see if ends up being predictive of whatever outcome you're studying.

Thanks. Now, can I ask why that is the case? I knew (thought I knew) I needed 2 ampersands but what is the third one doing?Looking back I can see that it was not fully resolving the variable in the way I needed but I do not understand why...
