Hi, If by SAS MC, you mean SAS Management Console, You need to configure a server through SAS MC only if you need SAS functionalities, such as user's authentification through SAS Metadata, etc ... But you can also, for sole file transfer between servers, install any software supported by the 2 two servers, eg winscp, putty, and configure your software as specified. Doing this, the files can be transferred as any binary files, not SAS files (eg datastes, catalogs, etc...) and some features are for you to care Users' authentification file integrity hth ... The size of the file you can export is dependent on available disk space. "Access is denied" can have multiple causes (list not exhaustive): -- overwriting a file that a user has opened elsewhere. -- user does not have write permission to drive or directory. -- sometimes a Microsoft glitch.  You may be able to clear it by looking at the directory properties and clearing the read-only check-box. Thanks for your reply LinusH. I understand your comment. but i am assuming your comment is based on internal SAS metadata users who are already added as a metadata users in the server. Let me tell you i am new at this role, SAS Admin so please correct me if i am wrong at any point. But, i am questioning like, what if someone from other database wants to connect my SAS metadata server for any inforamtion or data? As admin, i am using my own user id and password to log in but i think i should not give that user id and psw. I think i have to create once seperate testid and password for my SAS metadata server same as other database has. So basically if i am correct then how can i make that test id and password for my server so that other database people who wants to connect my SAS Metadata Server can use that test id and psw? lets say, i have following information to give for any one who wants to join our server. Sandip - not exactly. Each Management Console Data Library definition has both a Data Library name and a LIBREF - how you refer to the library in SAS code. These are quite independent of each other and it doesn't matter if you call them the same or not. Our practice is to have the data library name the same as the LIBREF as then you get a consistent view in EG and what you would use in SAS code. You can't use the same LIBREF in different data library definitions because which one do you want if you specify a LIBREF in SAS code that is used in multiple data library definitions. All you need to do is to go through all of your data library definitions and identify those with duplicate LIBREFs and change these so there are no longer duplicates (Options tab of Data Library properties). Sam, Be sure to read and heed the documents that Shiva referenced.  The structure of the data on the company's shares needs to be that of a 'SAS Software Depot'. Even Base SAS may require additional software (or upgraded versions of software that are part of the Windows OS more generally).  The installation wizard will review your system and bring things up to date as needed.
