For #2, you also have the option of saving the project inside the SAS Content Server - this comes with some additional options for metadata security, but at the cost of it's not so trivial to just copy a project around and send to others or use against different server. But you could save it into a Shared Data folder, and setup the permissions how you want to allow only certain users to use it, but also share it. The help inside Enterprise Guide covers this somewhat in the 'Working with Projects - Saving and Closing a Project' To save a new project to a SAS folder Select File Save project-name, or click on the toolbar. To change the name or location of an existing project, select File Save project-name As. In the Save window, click SAS Folders, or select SAS Folders from the Save in drop-down list. SAS folders provide a central location that enables you to share a project. When you save a project to a SAS folder in the metadata repository, information about all the data sources, stored processes, and the location of the project in WebDAV is saved in a metadata entry. The project file is saved in WebDAV. You can then use SAS Data Integration Studio to include the project in impact analysis for a table. Impact analysis identifies a data source and the items that are dependent on this source; this analysis reveals how changes to a data source could affect other documents. The metadata entry has properties that you can view and modify through the SAS Folders window. Right-click the project and select Properties. Double-click a server name to display the initial folder for file navigation that is defined in the properties of the server. Select a location for the project. Enter the name of the project in the File Name box and click Save.
