So something in the SAS server is holding the file? I am not expecting you to know for sure but you think it is a server thing?

The weird thing is - it says "opened by you" which would mean someone opened that file on that machine using some SAS tool but none are open. I am having ongoing issues with this particular EG project. It is very large and I don't have time to rewrite at the moment but I think it just has too many output files.

I just shut the machine down, restarted and re-ran and it worked. There are many many files in that code. I don't know why just that file was hung up, but it looks like it is resolved. Thanks.

Can anyone shed some light on what this error means? I did actually open the file referenced and it opens manually, but when I run the job in Windows Task Scheduler, it says it is in use. Thank you! ERROR: You cannot open REPORTS.DAILYREPORT3RESALECON.DATA for output access with member-level control because REPORTS.DAILYREPORT3RESALECON.DATA is in use by you in resource environment IOM ROOT COMP ENV.

This code is about 4 years old so it was written a few versions back and we do keep up with the versions but yes it seems like a bug of some kind. Unfortunately, it happens kind of randomly so I kind of have to wait to see it happen. Thanks, Chris

All the Excel files are exported into the same folder. I do not delete them so when the process runs, it is overwriting or replacing them. Sometimes, if we re run the entire process, it will then push the data out correctly. The only pattern I see is that it is happening with files further down stream in the code. I have at times deleted all the Excel files and just let EG re-create them. That works for a while and then they start to not export again. I have not tried to put in a step to delete the files before running. I could try that.

I have a SAS EG project that exports 34 small SAS DATA sets to Excel files. Sometimes they all export and sometimes they do not. I inherited this from another programmer. She originally was using the SAS data sets with the SAS Addin in Excel and switched over to Excel files instead. Either way, when I run the full project, I can see the data has updated in the SAS file but the export does not push the data out until I manually click on the Export process for some of the files. Any ideas why his might be happening? Thank you

I just want to manipulate the list of dataset names in the library by file size, etc. The Contents gives the detail fields of the individual datasets. I ended up just changing the output to Excel from Report and sorted the data in Excel. If there was another way to do this, it was not clear from what I read.

I am using the following code to see the members in a library called "sasdata". It is creating a report file. Is there an option in proc datasets to output a data file instead? options pagesize=60 linesize=80 nonumber nodate; proc datasets library=sasdata; Thank you.

What was happening is that my stored process to create a file in a SAS EG session was running exactly the same time as the code. I thought the code would "wait" but I guess it does not work that way. I used the following code solution to "sleep" the program. It is not exactly what I was looking for but it will work. I am pretty sure I am the only one creating stored processes in our system...I am definitely not running the same stored process from two different SAS EG sessions at the same time. Something else seems like it is not working right. It seems more like once the stored process runs, it does not free up the connection to that file even though it is a temp file. Hours later, it is still locked. The naming idea might work. I will give that a try.

I see code for "libname_all_clear;" Is that what you are referring to? How do I assign a library? I know we used to use libname statements. Is it something like that? Thanks,

I was originally running this to store in the WORK. Library and could not use the results the next step in the EG session. The work library does not save evidently: No, because the work session disappears when the stored process is done. You can write the file to a temp or perhaps rather than a stored process use a %INCLUDE to call the program instead. The TEMP library works.....sometimes.

I am getting the following error in SAS EG when I run a stored process from a VB Script. If I run it manually, it runs fine. Any ideas on how set this up properly would be appreciated. ERROR: A lock is not available for TEMP.V_PRM_DATA Thank you

I need to look at FIND a little more. When I first looked at it, it looks like it returns a location or something and then it would need to be used in other code based on location? I am used to substr etc. but does not hurt to learn something new.
