SAS Bowl XX, ODS Graphics

ODSGraphicsBanner.png

SAS-Bowl-Graphic-356x356-Black-text.pngSAS programming and ODS graphics go together like peanut butter and jelly, Bert and Ernie, yin and yang....I could go on, but I think you get the picture. You can find the ODS Graphics definition on the SAS 9 ODS Graphics Tip Sheet, but let's just say, it manages procedure output and facilitates creating graphs in SAS programs. ODS graphics is such an essential tool that we've decided to dedicate SAS Bowl XX to the topic.

Game Details and Access

  • The SAS Support Community trivia event, SAS Bowl XX, ODS Graphics is scheduled for Wednesday, June 8, at 10 AM ET.
  • Register for the event and receive an invite to a Microsoft Teams meeting and a calendar event.
  • On game day, join the Teams meeting and access the game here.

More on ODS Graphics

OK now, we'll bore you with the formal definition: ODS Graphics is an extension of ODS (the Output Delivery System). ODS manages procedure output and displays it in a variety of destinations, such as HTML and RTF. With ODS Graphics, statistical procedures produce integrated output that includes both graphs and tables. Procedures that support ODS Graphics create graphs, some by default and some when you specify procedure options.

We could go on with more words and descriptions, but there is so much great information out there about ODS Graphics, we'll just point you to them and let you browse at your convenience. Use the following resources to learn more about ODS Graphics and to prepare for the SAS Bowl event:

A SAS Bowl milestone - 20 events!!!

Heh @joeFurbee, it's been a while since we've had a roman numerals question... What do others think?  Yay or Nay for a roman numerals question? 🤔

FYI, we have a federal election in Australia on May 21st and using roman numerals for the ballot paper is allowed... although probably not appreciated (or encouraged) by count staff. https://www.aec.gov.au/Elections/candidates/files/scrutineers-handbook.pdf

@MichelleHomes , I couldn't agree more. Yes, it's been too long. I cook something up for a roman numeral question.

I've never thought about how SAS handles roman numerals. It may not be enough to dedicate an entire SAS Bowl to, but worth thinking about.

I want to be a scrutineer. I love that term.

Oh I was thinking of one roman numerals question not an entire dedicated SAS Bowl event... but now you have me thinking! hehehehehe

I agree - scrutineer is an inquisitively lovely word 🤓

If Joe needs help, he can use the SAS ROMANw. format: Super Bowl pools and Roman numerals - The DO Loop (sas.com)

@Rick_SAS , thanks for the link! Perhaps an event on dealing with numeric values in general? We could also consider one on DATE/TIME. I plan on getting user input from the Communities and on SAS_Care TW for the next SAS Bowl.
