Hello!

I am trying to calculate a sample size for a non-inferiority test comparing 2 proportions. I am trying to use the Farrington Manning test, however I am getting an error and the code will not run. It seems that SAS does not recognize this test.

proc power;

twosamplefreq test=fm

groupproportions = (0.908 0.943)

nullproportiondiff = -0.1

alpha = 0.05

sides = U

ntotal = .

power =0.80;

run;

The following error is in the log:

ERROR: NTOTAL is not available as a result option for TEST=HTML4 °y.

Any ideas why the test=fm is causing problems? I am using SAS version 9.4

Thanks!

I suspect this is a version mismatch, ie it runs fine for me in SAS 9.4 TS1M3, SAS/STAT 14.1. I suspect you have an earlier version. Check your version (proc product_status;run;) and then check the PROC POWER documentation for the correct version. You'll likely find that option is not available.

What is ANOVA?

ANOVA, or Analysis Of Variance, is used to compare the averages or means of two or more populations to better understand how they differ. Watch this tutorial for more.
