first of all, i am a complete newbie to sas and va so i may simply not be seeing an available option that is there but have no knowledge of it.

i want to show on a dashboard 1 number such as highest days sales for the week or maybe average sales for the week, etc.

the only way i see for now to show one number is to drag a gauge on the screen. i then change the text font to 60 which makes the number large and the gauge small.  i just want to show one number that may be 1 to 10 million and be able to change the font, font size, color, is the number trending up or down, etc.

You don't mention which gauge style you are using, so I wanted to mention that you can get the following appearance by using a thermometer-style, horizontal gauge. The key steps are to set the Data Skin to None on the Style tab, and to set the background for the Display Rule to white. If you would like more detailed steps to create this, please let me know.

This sample explains how to display the value of a single measure in a SAS Visual Analytics report:

Thanks for your idea! As of release of VA 8.2, you can use the new Key Value object, see related 8.3 doc.

Here's a blog post that explains it as well: Key Value Object in SAS Visual Analytics.
