Thete is so much valuable information in the SASLOG I think it would be good to have it in a more abstracted form.
These details could be in separate columns.
I understand that there are many different types of items so a compromise would be to write xml (but then an xml map would be needed)
Important items are
2 step proc name or global statement name
3 latest source log line number
4 Rows read
5 Rows written
6 columns output
7 read table name
8 wrote table name
9 name of %included code
10 location of source code of macro when it is compiled
11 parameter values when a macro is invoked if the MLOGIC option is on
12 external file details reported to log when read or written
13 rows updated when MODIFY used.
14 user notes in a general msg
15 step performance statistics like real and cpu time, memory and all stats generated if FULLSTIMER in effect.
I expect there are many more that I should not have forgotten/missed (this time)d
This will suppport those who seek to check for particular error messages.
It provides a great platform to review process across many steps.
Arm (base/foudnation) and log4j (Apm environment manager EIP) are already available
I wanted to point out this SAS Usage Note 44852 - SAS® Log Error Checking Tool is available for download
which links to a tool that can be used to scan the log for Errors and Warnings and provides links to Usage Notes related to the Notes.
It is a great facility.
Wish I had known of it last year.
Hope I will be allowed to download at my client site.
Now I'm looking forward to using it.
I note it is limited to windows platforms.
I think it would be great if this data could be added to the dataset's Extended Attributes (SAS 9.4) easily.
