I am using SAS/ACCESS to MySQL in a SAS Unicode session. The problem is that all character columns are created much too long (up to 4x the column length of the MySQL table) when I create a data set from a MySQL table. For Oracle (and some other DBMS) there are several LIBNAME options (DBSERVER_MAX_BYTES, DBCLIENT_MAX_BYTES ...) to adjust the character column length. It would be great to have these options for MySQL, too. It is really annoying when you have to set the length for each column manually.
